Åsmund Perssønn Ødegaard is a Norwegian composer, guitarist and conductor from Oslo with a musical practice that spans several different genres. His compositional practice includes works ranging from contemporary music to jazz, pop, music for children and their intermediate areas. So far he has composed and arranged music for several renowned ensembles, among others The Norwegian Radio Orchestra, The Norwegian Wind Ensemble, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, Schallfeld Ensemble, Delirium-Edition and The Arctic Philharmonic, as well as several smaller ensembles and his own initiatives.

As a guitarist, he is involved in contemporary music, jazz, free improvisation and also plays traditional music on the Norwegian folk instrument Langeleik. He is a member of The Orchestra for Jazz Composers Oslo and has played with professional orchestras including The Arctic Philharmonic and The Royal Norwegian Navy Band.

His conducting experience is equally versatile, ranging from Big Band and Orchestra to contemporary music. He conducted the premieres of two Pocket Operas at the Landestheater Linz im Austria.

He has a master's degree in composition (main focus Jazz) under the supervision of Helge Sunde and Eivind Buene from the Norwegian Academy of Music and a master’s degree in composition (main focus Contemporary Music) under the supervision of Carola Bauckholt at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz.

He has taught at the Cologne University of Music, Germany and at the Anton Bruckner Private University, Linz, Austria.
